DUDLEY, Mass. (9/28/24) – In a gritty matchup on the Nichols Soccer Field, the Nichols College Bison fell to CNE foe Wentworth 3-1.
With the loss, the Bison dropped to 3-6 (0-2 CNE) on the year, and Wentworth now sits at 5-3-2 (2-0 CNE) this season.
The Bison opened the scoring in just the 3rd minute of the match as Lukas Salvador dribbled right up the left side of the field and hammered home his first career goal of the Wentworth starting keeper. The play was assisted by Mick Tarozzi.
The goal held as the game only until the 40th minute when Wentworth tied the game up at 1-1 on a penalty kick goal. That deadlock would have for the halftime break.
As the teams opened the second half, Wentworth would add two more tallies to secure the win 3-1 over the home side Bison. The Leopards outshot the Bison 15-6 in the second half and 21-15 in the match.
Nichols starter Franco Barreto Santana made a season-high 11 saves in net.
Next up for the Bison is their senior day game against Fitchburg State. That game is set for 3 pm this Wednesday, October 2ndon the Nichols Soccer Field. The Nichols Class of 2025 will be honored pre-game at 2:30 pm
