Football Powers Past Dean, 31-7.

FRANKLIN, Mass. (9/28/2024) – After a slow moving first half, the Nichols College football team scored 21 unanswered second half points to pull away from the Dean College Bulldogs for a 31-7 win on Saturday afternoon from the Longley Athletic Complex.

Graduate Student Joshua Vitti and senior Jack Morvan shined once again for the Bison offense, as Vitti caught four balls for 83 yards and two touchdowns and Morvan finished with four receptions for 127 yards and one touchdown, while also throwing his second TD of the season. Junior Ian Snow was 9-18 for 224 yards, two passing touchdowns, and added a rushing touchdown as well.

Senior Niko Tartagni led the way for the Bison on the other side of the ball, with six solo tackles and 10 total tackles. Sophomore Patrick Henry finished with nine total tackles, including four solo tackles. Freshman Matthew Salman scored the lone sack on the afternoon and two tackles for loss to lead the way.

Nichols opened the scored after a fourth down stop. Snow found Vitti for 17 yards and touchdown to grab a 7-0 Nichols led, with 3:55 remaining in the first quarter. Dean responded with an 8-minute drive that saw them capitalize with a 9-yard rushing touchdown to even the scoring. The first half continued with both teams getting stops on either side. With 1:02 remaining in the half, freshman Nicks Foynes drilled a 24-yard field goal to give Nichols a 10-3 lead into the dressing room.

Nichols extended its lead to 10-points after a trick play, saw Morvan throw a 44-yard touchdown to Vitti who was wide open, and make it 17-7 Nichols. As time expired in the third quarter, Snow connected with Morvan for 82-yards to make it 24-7.
In the fourth quarter Nichols added to their lead with a 3-yard scamper after Nichols recovered a turnover. Nichols won 31-7 to improve to 3-1 on the season.

The Bison will continue their road trip as the head to Washington D.C. to face off against Gallaudet University on Saturday, October 5. Kick off is set for 12:00pm from Hotchkiss Field.
