WELLESLEY, Mass. (9/21/24) - The Nichols College women's tennis team was back in action on Saturday afternoon but were dealt a 7-0 non-conference loss on the road against Wellesley College at McKinley Park Tennis Courts.
The setback is the first of the season for the Bison, who drop to 3-1 (1-0 CNE) overall. On the other side, the win comes as the first of the year for the Blue, who are now 1-0.
The afternoon got off to a rocky start for the Bison, as the Blue swept through all three doubles matchups while limiting their opponent to just two combined points. The troubles continued into singles play, as the Blue went on to claim wins at all six positions, completing their 7-0 shutout.
However, Nichols saw a handful of notable performances on the day, beginning with freshman
Kamora Helton who battled her opponent to three sets (1-6, 6-4, 3-6). At No. 5 singles, junior
Charis Vogler narrowly fell in her second set (6-7) after dropping the first 3-6, while sophomore
Cora Brosch achieved the same feat but in reverse, with a close 7-6 loss in set one.
The Bison will be back in action on Wednesday, September 25th at 4:00 PM as they host Western New England University (2-1, 0-1 CNE) for a Conference of New England showdown at the Robinson Tennis Courts.
