DUDLEY, Mass (9/19/2024) - In a well-fought match at the Nichols Soccer Field, the Nichols College men's soccer team secured a 2-0 victory over the visiting Lasell University Lasers. Both teams battled evenly through the first half, with neither able to break the deadlock, resulting in a 0-0 scoreline at halftime.
However, the Bison emerged in the second half with a vengence and controlled much of the play. Just one minute into the half, Timothy Garcia, with a well-placed assist from Mick Tarozzi netted his first career goal the 46th minute. The goal, a result of their excellent teamwork, gave the Bison the momentum they needed to take control of the match.
Nichols doubled their lead later in the half when Carl Headges-Small found the back of the net, scoring his first goal of the season. The goal was set up by a combination of Ryan Bray and Nathan Salamon, showcasing the excellent teamwork and unity of the Bison attack.
Despite Lasell's efforts to fight back, the Bison defense, led by goalkeeper Franco Barreto Santana who recorded his third shutout of the season, held strong. Their resilience kept the Lasers at bay for the remainder of the game.
With this victory, the Bison improved their record to 3-3 (0-0 CNE) and are now gearing up to host the University of New England this Saturday at noon in their Conference of New England opener.
