DUDLEY, Mass. (9/18/24) – In their second match in as many days, the Nichols College women's tennis team delivered a commanding 5-2 win over Colby-Sawyer College in non-conference play at the Robinson Tennis Courts.
Nichols improves to 3-0 with the home win, while Colby-Sawyer falls to 3-1 with the loss.
The Bison set the tone early in doubles, with
Charis Vogler and
Cora Brosch leading the charge at the No. 3 position with a sweeping 6-0 victory.
Antonia Carrero and
Johanna Schroeder shortly followed with a key 6-2 win on court two, clinching the doubles point for the Bison, while
Pamela Gonzalez Vallardi and
Kamora Helton completed the doubles sweep with a solid 6-4 performance at the top position.
The Bison rounded out the afternoon by claiming wins in four-of-six singles matchups. The first came at the No. 1 position, where Helton bested her opponent by scores of 6-0, 6-1 win. To follow, Schroeder picked up an equally impressive victory at No. 4 position, as did Vogler on court five by scores of 6-1, 6-1. The final win went to Carrero, who claimed victory by scores of 6-4, 6-1 on court two.
Women's Tennis now shifts their focus to their upcoming road match against Wellesley College (0-0) on Saturday, September 21
st at 1:00 PM.
