NASHUA, NH (9/18/24)- Starting with an opening goal from transfer Megan Tucker, the Nichols College Women's Soccer Team shut out the home Rivier University Raiders 3-0 at Merrill Field in Nashua on Wednesday afternoon.
The goal, scored in the game's 39th minute, was the first of Tucker's career as a Bison and was assisted by senior Meagan Butler, who collected her first career point on the play.
The second-half dominance by the Bison continued and opened with a quick Bison goal as Falyn Hunt finished off a run with a shot into the bottom left corner to double the Nichols lead in the 56th minute. The goal was Hunt's team-leading 7th this season.
The Bison iced the game and scored a third and final goal in the 86th minute as freshman Sophia English swung a cross into the box that was headed in by senior Alana Snow.
The Bison outshot the Raiders 20 to 9, including 12 shots on goal from the black and green. Starting the game for the Bison was senior Saige Frazier, who recorded 3 saves in 85 minutes of action. Collaborating with her on the shutout was sophomore Hannah Deschene, who clocked her first collegiate minutes and made one save.
With the win, the Bison jump to 3-2-2 (0-0 CNE) on the season, and Rivier falls to 2-3-2 (2-0-1 GNAC).
The Bison's next task is their Conference of New England opener and homecoming game against the University of New England this Friday, September 20th. Kickoff is set for 4 pm on the Nichols Soccer Field.
