BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. (9/11/24) – The Nichols College men's soccer team wrapped up their road stretch of games as they edged out the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Buccaneers by a 1-0 margin on Wednesday Evening.
With the win, the Bison improved to 2-2 on the season, and Massachusetts Maritime dropped to 1-2 with the loss.
The scoreless tie was broken by the Bison in the 31st minute off the foot of senior
William Pugliese-Savage on a fantastic penalty kick. The goal was the first of Pugliese-Savage's season and his 22nd career marker.
The lone goal stood as the game-winner, as
Alexandro Montreuil and Pugliese-Savage each had two shots on target.The Bison edged the Bucs in shots 19-13
In net for the Bison was senior
Franco Barreto Santana who kept the clean sheet recording five saves, including a vital penalty kick save in the 89th minute to secure the win for the Bison.
The Bison have finished out their four-game season-opening road stretch and now turn to their home opener which they are set to host this Saturday, September 14th at 2 pm. They will host the Clark University Cougars on the Nichols Soccer Field.
