NORTH HAMPTON, Mass. (8/31/2024) – The Nichols College field hockey wrapped up the Caryl Newhof Classic on Saturday afternoon as they faced off against Westfield State in the third place game. Nichols fell 4-1 at the hands of the Owls.

Kaelyn Casper scored the first Bison goal of the season in the third quarter of today's game. Sophomore
Sofia Calabro grabbed the assist. Senior
Sophia Venable made nine saves in the loss for Nichols.
Just like last night, neither team scored in the opening 15 minutes. It was Westfield who tallied first in the second quarter and took a 1-0 lead into the half. The Owls doubled their lead to 2-0 before Casper scored to cut the lead in half for the bison off a feed from Calabro.
Two insurance goals for Westfield, helped them secure a 4-1 over Nichols.
Nichols (0-2) will stay on the road as they travel to Paxton, Mass. to face off against Anna Maria on Wednesday, September 4
th. That game is set for a 6:00 p.m. start.
