NEW HAVEN, Conn. (8/30/24) – It didn't take long for the Nichols College Women's Soccer Team to get back in the rhythm as they took on non-conference opponent Albertus Magnus on the road to open their 2024 season. With a fresh set of new faces, the Bison finished locked with the Falcons 2-2.
The game marked the first for both programs in the 2024 season, the Falcons and Bison now both sit with a 0-0-1 record on the year. The game marked the first tie ever between the two programs.
It was the Bison who struck first thanks to a goal from junior Falyn Hunt, as she put the ball home off of a feed from graduate student Grace Killman in the 33rd minute of the match. It didn't take long for the Bison as just 40 seconds later sophomore Sophia Rodriguez got her first of the year thanks to a feed from freshman Summer Bruno who recorded her first collegiate point on the play.
The Bison would take a 2-0 lead into halftime, but in second-half action, the Falcons would find a pair of goals of their own to notch the game up at two a piece. The Bison outshot the Falcons 13-6 on the night but settled for the 2-2 draw.
In net for the Bison, senior Saige Frazier made three saves in her first start of her senior campaign.
The Bison will be right back in action tomorrow, Saturday, August 31st as they take on Clark University in another non-conference tilt.
