DUDLEY, Mass. (5/7/2024) – The No. 4 Nichols College baseball team fell behind by 10 runs in the top of the first inning and it was an uphill batted from then on out as No. 5 Western New England University toppled the Bison 24-6 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Tuesday afternoon. Nichols is now one loss away from being eliminated for the CCC Tournament.

Ben Jerome led the way for the Bison with three hits each. Teammate
Johnny Knox recorded two more RBI and a solo home run as well. Knox broke the single season home run mark with his solo shot in the first inning, passing his teammate Kyle Bouchard '20 who hit 12 home runs.
The Golden Bears got off to a near perfect start, scoring 10 runs on eight hits to take a commanding lead. WNE did not have to look back as they continued to score at will, with runs coming in every inning except for two. Nichols lost 24-6 to the Golden Bears.

Clark Churchill (7-4) was tabbed with the loss for the Bison. Nichols saw eight pitcher enter the game out of the pen.
For the Bison (29-12, 9-5 CCC), the loss sends them to the bottom of the bracket as they will face elimination for the remainder of the postseason. Nichols will face off against the loser of the game between No. 1 Endicott and No. 5 Western New England. That game is set for Thursday afternoon, with a time to be announced.
