Saturday Sweep for Men's Tennis

Dudley, Mass. (4/6/24) – The Nichols College Men's Tennis team took home two wins in a two-game Saturday as they took down Emerson College in non-conference action in Dudley before hitting the road and taking a game from CCC for Suffolk in Boston.

Game 1: Nichols College 8 | Emerson College 1

In a rescheduled non-conference home match against the Emerson College Lions, Nichols got out to a 3-0 lead in doubles and never looked back, securing an 8-1 final win. The Bison now move to 4-4 all-time against the Lions.

Two of those doubles wins came by way of an 8-0 sweep. In the number two position, Trevor Schwarzmann and Kerem Subasi got the job done just after an 8-0 final at the number three position thanks to the work of Enzo Matos Balleux and Matteo Schmitt.

In singles action, five Bison took their wins in straight sets. Those were CCC player of the week Trevor Schwarzmann at number two (6-0, 6-1), Enzo Matos Balleux at number three (6-0, 6-2), Caio Dieckmann at number four (6-2, 6-3), Oscar Junyent at number five (6-0, 6-1) and Matteo Schmitt at number six (6-0, 6-0).

Game 2: Nichols College 9 | Suffolk University 0

A few hours later in Boston, similar to the first game of the day, the Bison once again found themselves up 3-0 after doubles play, this time, over CCC foe Suffolk University. Their 9-0 win was the third straight shutout for the Bison over the Rams.

The Bison had different pairings at doubles for the evening matchup. This match Leon Zeis and Kerem Subasi got the 8-0 win at number one, Richard Hartmann Zuzio and Caio Dieckmann got the 8-3 win at number two, and a second 8-0 sweep was earned at number three by Enzo Matos Balleux and Trevor Schwarzmann.

Five Bison once again got wins in straight sets in singles action. Zeis (6-1, 6-3), Matos Balleux (6-1, 6-4), Dieckmann (6-1, 6-0), Schmitt (6-0, 6-4), and Junyent (6-0, 6-0) all earned straight wins in their matchups.

The Bison are back in action tomorrow Sunday, April 6th, as they face off against CCC opponent Endicott. That game is set for 3:30pm at the Robinson Tennis Courts in Dudley.
