Ullo Scores First Goal, Bison Fall to Beavers

DUDLEY, Mass. (3/5/2024) – The Men's Lacrosse team fell 17-6 in non-conference action against the Babson College Beavers on Tuesday night on Vendetti Field. The loss was the first of the Bison's season, who now fall to 3-1.

The game marked the first meeting between the Beavers and the Bison since 1993.

It was the Beavers that opened the scoring, running out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first five minutes. This was highlighted by a tally from Jared Rainville, his first of 7 on the evening. Bouncing back for the Bison was junior CJ Cadigan, who added two goals of his own in the first quarter, with the assists coming off the sticks of graduate students Blake Covell and sophomore Joey Lachance. The Bison trailed 4-2 after the first frame.

The second quarter was led by the Beavers, who scored 8 unanswered goals, before graduate student Ryan Warner found the back of the net on an unassisted tally. The Beavers lead was 13-3 at the half.

The third and fourth quaters marked some firsts for the Bison, including a first college goal from freshman Shea Ullo, and a first goal of the season for junior Tyler Ciufo with just 0:17 seconds to play in the game. Junior Jack Ellis also scored for the home side. Sophomore Travis Arnold won 11-of-22 face-offs and tied for game-high honors with six ground balls. Senior Cooper Melvin led all players with four caused turnovers.

In goal for the Bison, junior Brady Morgan made his third straight start of the season, making four saves in just under 25 minutes of action. Sophomore transfer Carter Renaud saw his first minutes of collegiate action, making 3 saves in 31 minutes of relief. Senior Billy Heller also saw time in net for the Bison, making one save.

The Bison's next task lies in their annual Spring Break Trip. This year, they will head to Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Along with training sessions, they are set top face off against New-York based Alfred University at a neutral site game at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland this Sunday March 10th at 12 PM. They will then head to Eastern University in St. David's, PA for a Thursday afternoon clash with the Eagles. These match-ups will mark the first all-time meetups between these programs.

Please note: there will be no livestream or live stats available for the Sunday March 10th game against Alfred.
