HARRISVILLE, R.I. (2/3/2024) – The Nichols College women's hockey team lost on Saturday afternoon at the hands of Suffolk University as they celebrated Alumni Day at June Rockwell Levy Rink. The Bison lost 4-1 to the Rams in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.

Kayla Currin scored the team's lone goal, for her third goal of the season. Senior
Grace Melanson chipped in with the helper on the goal. Junior
McKenzie Muir made 22 saves in the loss.
Suffolk opened the coring just 47 seconds into the game to grab a 1-0 lead. They doubled up the lead with 1:23 remaining in the first period with a shorthanded goal, making it 2-0, as they headed to the locker room.
The Bison cut into the Rams' lead thanks to Currin. Melanson dumped the puck into the offensive zine from the red line and the puck was redirected away by the net minder, Melanson shoveled the pass through her legs and Currin one-timed the puck past the goalie and into the back of the net. This was her third goal of the season and made it 2-1 just 1:24 into the second period.
Nichol trailed 2-1 after 40 minutes. In the third period, the Bison nearly tied the game, but had the goal waved off. Suffolk added two more insurance goals in the game for a 4-1 win.
Nichols will look to get back on the right foot as they play host to Western New England on Friday, February 9
th, from Levy Rink. Puck drop is set for 5:40 p.m.
