EVERETT, Mass. (12/7/2024) – The Nichols College men's hockey team dropped a Conference of New England match up to Wentworth on Saturday afternoon from Allied Veterans Rink. The Leopards scored a goal with 35 seconds remaining to sneak past the Bison, 2-1.

Graduate student Joey Allegrini scored the lone Bison goal with assists coming from senior Josh Dickson and junior Aaron Hamel. Freshman Liam Choquette shouldered the loss, stopping 31 of 33 shots for the visitors.

Allegrini opened the scoring at the 4:38 mark of the period to give Nichols a 1-0 lead. Allegrini forced a turnover and then jumped up into the odd man rush with Dickson and Hamel. Hamel dropped a pass of for Dickson, who slide a pass to Allegirni who rifled a shot from the slot for a 1-0 lead. This was Allegrini's second goal of season.

Wentworth grabbed an equalizer on the power-play. Nichols was out-shot 10-6 in the period. Neither team scored in the second period, and the Leopards scored with 35 second remaining in the third period to stun the Bison. Nichols lost 2-1 to the Leopards.

Wentworth out-shot Nichols 33-20 for the game. The Bison were 0-4 on the power-play and 3-4 on the penalty kill in the game.

Nichols (4-5-2, 2-4-2 CNE) will head into the Winter Break and back to action on January 4^th against Salem State at the Boston Landing Collegiate Invitational. Puck drop is set for 4:40 p.m. from Warrior Ice Arena.
