BRIGHTON, Mass. (1/4/2025) – The 2025 Boston Landing Collegiate Invitational's first game ended in dramatic fashion as the Salem State University Vikings completed a comeback, capped off with an overtime goal to beat the Nichols College men's ice hockey team 4-3 on Saturday afternoon.

The Vikings opened the scoring at the 5:33 mark to grab a 1-0 lead. The Bison were equal to the task and cashed in nine minutes later as a shot from the left circle snuck through the pads of the Viking net-minder and across the line. Carl and Lee added assists on the equalizer. The Bison outshot the Vikings 15-11 in the opening frame.
Allegrini scored his third goal of the season to break a 1-1 tie at the 1:10 mark of the second. Allegrini ripped a screened shot from the point tat snuck past the net minder for a 2-1 Bison lead. Zezima cashed in on the power-play with just over five minutes remaining in the second period for a 3-1 lead into the second period intermission.
The third period was all Salem State as they outshot Nichols 20-7 in the period and scored twice, including with 26.2 second remaining in the period and with the goalie pulled to tie the game at 3-3. The game required overtime and at the 2:06 mark of the extra frame, the Vikings raced into the offensive zone on a partial two on one and beat freshman
Liam Choquette with a perfectly placed shot into the far corner for a 4-3 win over the Bison.
The Bison will return for day two of the Boston Landing Collegiate Invitational and play in the Consolation Game which is set for 5:40 p.m. on Sunday, from Warrior Ice Arena. The Vikings will play in the Championship Game at 2:40 p.m. against the winner of Middlebury and SUNY Canton.
