HARRISVILLE, R.I. (12/6/2024) – A four goal second period helped the Nichols College men's hockey team earn a 6-1 win over Conference of New England (CNE) opponent, the Wentworth Institute of Technology, on Friday night from Levy Rink.

Senior Kaiden Scott scored two goals to lead the way for the Bison, while teammate Nathan Carl, as well as juniors Jack Lee, Aaron Hamel and Zach Vandale each scored one goal. Senior Gabe Temple added a pair of helpers and so did freshman Luca Ricci. Senior Josh Dickson, sophomore Zack Kent, and Vandale all added an assist as well.

The Bison opened the scoring 36 seconds into the first period, after Vandale picked the top corner. This was Vandale's second goal of the season. Just over halfway through the first period, the Bison doubled their lead with a power-play goal. Carl ripped a one timer from the right circle after a great pass from Ricci.

The second period was more of the same from the Bison. A second power-play goal made it3-0, coming off a deflection off the stick of Lee and into the back of the net. Austin and Temple tallied assists on the goal. Scott scored back-to-back goals just under one minute apart to make it 5-0 Nichols, with 11:48 remaining in the second period.

Hamel jumped in on scoring after driving to the net and a great pass from Kent below the goal resulted in the sixth goal for Nichols. Wentworth answered with six seconds in second period to end freshman netminder Liam Choquette's shutout bid.

Choquette stopped 18 of 19 shots to earn his second win in as many starts for the Bison. Nichols was 2-3 on the power-play and a perfect 3-3 on the penalty kill in the win.
