CANTON, Mass. (11/9/2024) – The Nichols College women's ice hockey team's undefeated start to the season came to an end at the hands of Conference of New England (CNE) foe Curry College on Saturday afternoon from the Canton Ice House. Nichols lost 4-1.
Sophomore
Anneliese Klein scored the lone Bison goal, with the assists coming to freshman
Kerstin Ambruso and graduate student
Grace Melanson.
The Colonels opened the scoring in the first period and carried the 1-0 lead into the dressing room. In the second period, Nichols found themselves down 2-0, before Klein cut the lead in half. This was Klein's first goal of the season with Ambruso also registering her first point of the season and also her first collegiate point for the Bison.
Curry added two more goals to secure the 4-1 win over the Bison. Senior
Anamary Pulgar shouldered the loss, making 24 stops in the effort for the Bison. Nichols went 1-5 on the power-play and 1-2 on the penalty kill.
Nichols (3-1-0, 1-1-0 CNE) will have some time off before they travel to Keene State on Wednesday, November 20
th. Puck drop is set for 7:15 p.m.
