Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Muir Stops 50 in Loss to Endicott

BEVERLY, Mass. (11/23/2024) – In a Conference of New England rematch from the night before, the Nichols College women's ice hockey team hit the road to take on the Endicott Gulls on Saturday afternoon on the North Shore. The Gulls took the game by a final score of 4-0.

Senior goaltender McKenzie Muir got the starting nod in net for the Bison. She was a sensation in net for Nichols making a season-high 50 saves in the loss. That stat line is good for Muir's second-highest career total, as she made 52 saves in a loss to Endicott on November 5th, 2022.

The Gulls opened the scoring with just under nine minutes to play in the first period on their eleventh shot of the game. The wrister went just over Muir's left shoulder to put the Gulls up 1-0. Three minutes later, a two-on-one opportunity in front of the Bison net resulted in another Gulls goal, extending their lead to two. The Gulls carried a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

In the second period, the Bison held the Gulls to just one goal, taking a 3-0 lead into the last frame. They added one more in the final 20 to take the 4-0 win.

With the loss, the Bison fell to 3-4-0 (1-3-0 CNE) on the year, and the Gulls rose to 5-2-0 (4-2-0 CNE) this season.

Nichols has a quick turnaround. They're back in action on Tuesday when they host the MCLA Trailblazers in a pre-Thanksgiving matchup at the Levy Rink. Puck drop for that game is set for 3:40 p.m. in Rhode Island.
