HARRISVILLE, R.I. (11/22/2024) – Senior goaltender
Anamary Pulgar made 34 saves as the hometown Nichols College Bison were blanked 6-0 by the visiting Endicott College Gulls in women's hockey action Friday afternoon at the Levy Rink.
Of Pulgar's saves, 17 came in the opening frame, as it took the Gulls until the 11:24 mark to open the scoring on a shot from Maggie Holt through a fury of bodies in front of the net. That goal stood as the game's only through 20 minutes. In second-period action, the Gulls added two goals to advance to 3-0. In that period, the Bison killed off two powerplay opportunities from the Gulls, including a five-minute major assessed to
Ema Jaskova.
The Gulls pulled away in the third period increasing their lead to six. Pulgar was relieved by sophomore
Paige Almon with just over five minutes to play. Almon made six saves on the night.
Leading the way for the Bison in shots were graduate student
Grace Melanson and freshman
Alexis Pacheco who had four each. The Gulls outshot the Bison 46 to 17 in the game.
With the loss, the Bison fall to 3-3-0 (1-2-0 CNE) on the year, and the Gulls rise to 4-2-0 (3-2-0 CNE) this season.
The two teams will have a rematch in the home and home-series tomorrow. Game time is set for 3 PM in Beverly, Massachusetts.
