LEWISTON, Maine (10/6/24) - The Nichols College women's tennis team dropped its final non-conference match of the fall season, 5-2 at Bates College on Sunday morning.
With the loss, the Bison move to 8-3 (5-0 CNE) overall on the season.
Despite falling behind early 1-0, the Bison were able to snag one victory in doubles play, which came by way of a 6-4 score at the No. 2 position from seniors
Antonia Carrero and
Johanna Schroeder.
Carrero and Schroeder were also victorious in singles action, giving Nichols their lone pair of points on the day. Carrero won 6-1, 6-3 on court two, while Schroeder was a three-set winner at the No. 4 position by scores of 4-6, 7-5 and 7-6. The Bison also had two others force three-set decisions, with freshman
Kamora Helton and sophomore
Cora Brosch each winning in their respective second sets.
The Utes are next set to host another pair of Pac-12 matches on home courts, taking on Arizona State on Friday, April 12 and Arizona on Sunday, April 14.
