MILTON, Mass. (10/5/24) – For their fourth consecutive win, and second straight sweep, the Nichols College women's tennis team blanked Curry College, 7-0 in conference play at the Trent J. Scott '96 Courts on Saturday afternoon.
The win is also the 20
th straight against the Colonels, with the streak reaching as far back as 2006. The Bison are now 8-2 (5-0 CNE) on the season, while Curry drops to 3-7 (2-3 CNE).
Freshman
Kamora Helton and
Pamela Gonzalez Vallardi led the way with a 6-0 victory over Curry's top pair. Seniors
Johanna Schroeder and
Antonia Carrero followed with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles, while
Cora Brosch and
Erin Helly rounded out the doubles sweep with a 6-2 triumph on court three.
In singles actions, Helton, Carrero and Gonzalez Vallardi each picked up dominant 6-0, 6-0 victories at each of the top three positions, furthering Nichols' match lead to 4-0. Schroeder then claimed a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles, while Brosch won on court five by a 6-2, 6-0 score.
Helly, as she did in doubles, helped round out the action with a hard-fought 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles, completing the sweep for the Bison.
Women's tennis has a big turnaround tomorrow morning, when they will head up to Bates College (0-0) for a non-conference match beginning at 9:30 AM.
