BEVERLY, Mass (10/26/2024)- The Nichols College men's soccer team played the Endicott Gulls on Saturday in an away match for the Bison. Both teams stepped onto the field, determined to make an impact, and the game got off to a competitive start. Nichols struck first with a goal from
Juanesteban Hincapie in the 14th minute, giving the Bison an early 1-0 lead.
Endicott responded quickly, finding the equalizer in the 27th minute, shifting the momentum back in their favor. The Gulls then surged ahead in the 40th minute, scoring their second goal to take a 2-1 lead. A crucial moment followed when
Franco Barreto Santana received a yellow card, resulting in a penalty kick for Endicott. The Gulls capitalized, extending their lead to 3-1 going into halftime.
The second half opened with intensity as Endicott scored just one minute after the restart, bringing the score to 4-1. The Gulls continued their offensive push, adding another goal in the 55th minute to secure a 5-1 lead. Nichols made a goalkeeper substitution in the 76th minute, with
Derek Axon replacing
Franco Barreto Santana. Despite their efforts, the Bison couldn't close the gap, and the match ended with a 5-1 loss for Nichols.
The Bison aim to bounce back as they travel to face Western New England University on Wednesday at 3:30 PM.
