DUDLEY, Mass. (10/22/24) – Off the back of two quick goals, the Nichols College Bison topped the visiting Gordon College Fighting Scots 2-0 in Conference of New England play in Dudley on Tuesday Afternoon
.
The win is the Bison's first CNE victory of the season, as they move to 4-9-2 (1-4-2 CNE) with two games to go in the regular season. Gordon drops to 6-5-5 (2-2-3 CNE) on the year.
It took just nine minutes of action towards the end of the first half for the Bison to secure the victory. The game's first goal came from
Timothy Garcia who netted his second of the year off a feed from
William Pugliese-Savage in the 31st minute.
Shortly after,
Aysaiah Chavez scored his second as a Bison with the help of Garcia to put the Bison ahead 2-0 over the Fighting Scots. The assist was Garcia's first, as he recorded his first 3-point game at Nichols.
The Bison were able to hold off Gordon in the second half to finish the game out 2-0.
With the Fighting Scots out shooting the Bison 24-11, senior
Franco Barreto Santana was relied on heavily in his last game on the pitch at Nichols. He recorded 10 saves for his third 90-minute clean sheet of the season.
The Bison have closed their home slate and are set to finish out their regular season and playoff push with two road matches—the next being at Endicott College on Saturday.
