DUDLEY, Mass. (10/16/2024)- The Nichols College men's soccer team hosted the University of Hartford Hawks on Wednesday afternoon from the Nichols Soccer Field in Conference of New England (CNE) play.
The game started with both teams displaying their strength, resulting in a 0-0 tie for most of the first half. However, the Hawks managed to break through in the 37th minute, taking the lead with a 1-0 score. The Bison defense, led by Franco Barreto Santana, Ryan Bray, Nicholas De Paula, Aysaiah Chavez, and Ethan Knowles, held strong for the rest of the half, preventing further goals.
The second half saw Hartford extending their lead with a goal in the 49th minute, making it 2-0. Despite the Bison's relentless efforts to stage a comeback and create scoring opportunities, they were unable to break through the Hawks' defense. Hartford, on the other hand, continued to press forward and added two more goals, ultimately securing a 4-0 victory.
With this loss, the Bison's record now stands at 3-9-1, while the Hawks improve to 8-2-2. Nichols is determined to bounce back in their next match, scheduled for this Saturday, October 19 at 12 p.m. as they face off in CNE play against Roger Williams.
