DUDLEY, Mass. (10/12/24) – Behind two penalty kick goals, the visiting Suffolk University Rams topped the hometown Nichols College Bison men's soccer team 2-0 on Vendetti Field Saturday afternoon.
The Rams controlled the play for much of the first half outshooting the Bison 17-3 in the opening frame. One of those shots was a penalty kick by the Ram's Francisco Valck, who wired the game's opening goal past Nichols and started Franco Barreto Santana in the 39th minute to put Suffolk ahead 1-0.
In second-half action, another penalty kick goal extended the Rams lead to two just three minutes into second-half action. The Bison then continued to apply pressure, and the shots were held to 4-4 in second-half action. Despite their best efforts, the Bison were unable to convert on their changes and were held scoreless by the Ram's netminder Nathan Harlow who recorded six saves.
In net for the Bison, Franco Barreto Santana made six stops of his own in the outing. With the loss, the Bison dropped to 3-8-1 (0-3-1 CNE) this season. Suffolk remains undefeated in conference play, moving to 6-4-3 (3-0-1 CNE).
The Bison will continue their hunt for their first CNE win of the season as they are next set to play host to the University of Hartford. That game is set for 3 pm on Wednesday in Dudley.
