WESTON, Mass. (10/1/24) – The Nichols College women's tennis team produced another outstanding performance on Friday evening, sweeping Suffolk University 7-0 in conference play on the road.
The Bison improve to a 7-2 (4-0 CNE) record with the win, while the Rams fall to 0-7 (0-5 CNE) with the loss.
The Bison claimed victory at all three doubles matchups, led by seniors
Johanna Schroeder and
Antonia Carrero on court two with a 6-0 shutout. Freshman duo
Kamora Helton and
Pamela Gonzalez Vallardi quickly followed it up with a 6-1 win at the top position, securing the doubles point for the Bison, while seniors
Bethany Prendergast and
Kiley O'Brien made it three-for-three with a 6-2 triumph at No. 3 doubles.
Entering singles action, Schroeder kept the ball rolling with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles, followed closely by Gonzalez Vallardi on court three by the same score. Helton then clinched the win with a 6-1, 6-1 performance at No. 1 singles.
As play continued, Carrero secured a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, tailed by Prendergast who won 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 5 position. Sophomore
Erin Helly completed the sweep for Nichols, winning 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
The Bison open a busy weekend schedule with a stop at conference opponent Curry College (3-6, 2-2 CNE) on Saturday, October 5
th. Opening serve is slated for Noon at the Trent J. Scott '96 Courts.
