NEW LONDON, Conn. (1/30/2024) – The Nichols College women's hockey team was silenced in non-conference action by the NESCAC's Connecticut College on Tuesday night from Dayton Arena. The Bison lost 6-0 to the Camels.
Junior
Anamary Pulgar shouldered the loss for the Bison, but set a new career high in saves, with 41 in the effort for Nichols. Pulgar's previous best was 27 saves against Curry, back on January 13. Freshmen
Paige Almon also made an appearance in relief for the Bison, making two saves on four shots.
Pulgar was the star of the first period, making 18 saves to keep the game knotted up at 0-0 through 20 minutes of action. In the second period, the Camels scored three times, including once on the power-play. The Camels continued to control play and potted three more goals in the third period.
Senior
Grace Wiggett paced the Bison with two shots on goal and went 12-24 from the face off dot. Nichols went 4-6 on the penalty kill and did not have a power-play in the game.
The Bison will get back to conference play this Saturday, February 3, as a part of their Alumni and Skate with the Bison weekend. Nichols is slated to face off against Suffolk University at 4:40 p.m. from Levy Rink.
