HARRISVILLE, R.I. (1/27/2024) – Two goals in the first period of play were enough, as the Salve Regina Seahawks shutout out the Nichols College Bison 2-0 in CCC Women's Ice Hockey play on Saturday evening at Levy Rink.

McKenzie Muir sheltered 22 saves in the loss, as she drops to 4-10 this season. Four of her saves came on Seahawk powerplay opportunities, as her Bison matched that with five PK shots on the night. Seahawks netminder Sydney Baxter made 28 saves to secure the shutout.
Salve got on the board just over 11 minutes into the first period as Emma Gotthelf converted off of a pass from Samantha Mackenzie and Maddie Cox to put the visitors ahead 1-0. It was less than five minutes later when Gina Richard extended the lead to two.
The second two periods would remain scoreless, with the Bison outshooting the Seahawks 20-18 through the final 20 minutes of play. Salve finished the night with 19 blocked shots, and Nichols with 15 of their own. The Bison had the edge 25-17 in the faceoff circle and 28-24 in shots. Nichols now falls to 7-12-0 (1-12-0 CCC) on the season, and Salve jumps to 10-7-3 (7-5-1 CCC) on the year.
Nichols has a quick turnaround as they head to New London, Connecticut for a non-conference tilt with Connecticut College on Tuesday January 30
