BIDDEFORD, Maine (1/20/2024) – Every goal was scored in the first period, but that was all that was needed for the University of New England needed to beat the Nichols College women's hockey team, 3-1 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) from the Harold Alfond Forum on Saturday night.

Kayla Currin scored the lone goal for the Bison and junior
Melissa Montesi and senior
Grace Wiggett added assists in the loss for Nichols. Junior
McKenzie Muir made 27 saves in the loss.
The Nor'Easters opened the scoring six and half minutes into the game on the power-play. They added their second goal of the game 31 seconds later to make it 2-0 in the game. UNE scored their third goal of the game six minutes later for a 3-0 lead for Nichols.
The Bison pulled themselves within two goals coming off the stick of Currin. Montessi and Wiggett added assists on the goal for the Nichols.
Nichols went 1-2 on the power-play and 0-2 on the penalty kill.
Nichols will hit the road and take on Salve Regina on Thursday evening from St. George's Ice Rink, with puck drop set for 7:45 p.m.
