HARRISVILLE, R.I. (1/12/2024) – The Nichols College women's hockey opened up the 2024 half of Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play as they played host to Curry College on Friday evening from June Levy Rockwell Rink. The Bison lost 5-0 to the Colonels.
Junior
McKenzie Muir earned the start and made 27 saves on 32 shots for the Bison and shouldered the loss. Freshman
Paige Almon also earned time in net in the final two minutes of action.
The Colonels dominated the first period out-shooting Nichols 21-6 and led 2-0 after 20 minutes of action. The second period saw Curry tally two more goals to take a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes.
Nichols had five power-play opportunities in the second period, but were unable to find the back of the net, behind good team defense from the Colonels.
In the third period, Curry scored one more time to put the game away for good and won 5-0 over Nichols.
Nichols (7-7) will look for the weekend split as they travel to Canton, Mass. for a 3:00 p.m. puck drop against the Colonels on Saturday, January 13.
