DUDLEY, Mass. (9/19/23) – The Nichols College men's soccer team met with the Curry College Colonels in a rainy opener on Vendetti Field to kick off Nichols College 2023 homecoming festivities. The Bison lost 4-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup with the Colonels.
With the loss, Nichols sits at 5-4-1 (1-1-1 CCC) on the year, and with the win Curry is 6-1-3 (1-0-2 CCC) on the season.
The downpour did not stop the Colonels as they opened the scoring less than a minute into the match when Lucas Drons scored his first of two on the day. A little over two minutes later, a penalty goal from Adam Pforr would double the Colonels' lead early. Three minutes later, the Bison would have a penalty kick of their own. Junior
William Pugliese-Savage was stopped on his first attempt but could pot his own rebound to cut the Colonels' lead back to one. The early and often scoring would eventually mellow out, but then a frenzy of fouls and yellow cards followed. The first half came to a close with a 3-1 Colonels lead.
In the second half, the Bison were never able to overtake the Colonels, and Curry would go on potting another unanswered goal. Setting the final score at 4-1 Colonels.
