Bison and Raiders Battle to 0-0 Draw in Women's Soccer

Dudley, Mass. (9/28/23) – The Nichols College Women's Soccer team battled it out with the Rivier University Raiders to a 0-0 draw on the Nichols Soccer Field in Thursday afternoon action.

With the tie, Nichols is 2-5-1 (0-2 CCC) the year, while the Raiders sit at 6-2-2 (5-1-1 GNAC) on the season.

Despite Nichols controlling much of the possession and chances in the match, they were unable to covert on any of those chances. Nichols tripled the Raiders in shots, outshooting the visitors 36-12 on the day. It was senor captain Grace Killman and sophomore Falyn Hunt who led for the Bison with seven shots each. Junior Natalie Gray followed closely behind with five shots of her own. It was Raiders' netminder Maya Puma who owned 20 saves in her first start of the season.

The save of the match however belonged to the Bison. Saige Frazier, who came in relief of starter Adie Hughes for the second half, made a sprawling left toe save off a Raider's chance mid-way through the second half. Frazier and Hughes combined for nine saves in the outing.

Nichols was able to use their home field advantage, playing many balls off bounces, and converting fast on the Raiders, but despite continued pressure by the Bison, the match settled in a 0-0 draw.

The Women's Soccer Team returns to action on Saturday September 30th for the homecoming matchup. They are set to face CCC opponent Curry College Nichols Soccer Field, kickoff is set for 11:00am.
