Salem, Mass. (9/12/23) – The Nichols College Women's Soccer Team outlasted the Salem State Vikings 3-2 in a Tuesday Night non-conference matchup at Alumni Field in Salem, MA.
With the win, Nichols improves to 2-3 the year, while the Vikings are still hunting for their first win and fall to 0-4-1 on the season.
The Bison were back boned by the tandem goaltending of sophomore
Saige Frazier, and junior
Adie Hughes, who recorded four saves each in the match. The Bison also had a well-rounded attack that saw three different goal scorers in the match.
It was the Vikings that stuck first, very early into the match, but it took less than 15 minutes for Bison captain
Grace Killman, to convert off a pass from
Alana Snow, evening the match up at 1-1. Both teams exchanged goals late in the first half, but it was the Bison's firepower that carried them past the Vikings in the second half. 6-minutes after halftime, it was
Natalie Gray who was able to put the eventual game winner past the Viking's goalkeeper, thanks to an assist from teammate
Jenna Condon.
The Women's Soccer Team returns to action on Saturday September 16
th at home with their conference opener against Endicott College. Kickoff is set for 11:30am at the Nichols Soccer Field.
