Dudley, Mass. (9/16/23) – The Nichols College Women's Soccer Team was unable to hold back the fire power of the Endicott College Gulls in their Commonwealth Coast Conference opening match on Saturday morning on Vendetti Field, dropping a 3-0 decision.
With the loss, Nichols drops to 3-3 (0-1 CCC) the year, while the Gulls improve to 5-1 (1-0 CCC) on the season,
The Bison relied heavily on their strong defensive core to keep the match tight, highlighted by the strong goaltending of sophomore
Saige Frazier, who recorded 10 saves in the effort, including many second-effort highlight reel saves.
The Gulls struck first at the 9:51 mark of the first half, when Ella Morgan riffled the ball to the low left corner passed Frazier on a free kick just outside the 18-yard box. The Gulls were unable to break the Bison's back line, recording 3 offside offensives before the closure of the first half.
Nine minutes into the second half, Endicott's Grace Jewett crossed a ball to Elizabeth Healy who tapped the ball into the Bison goal. Soon after, Riley Rishitelli added another Gulls goal. That would be it for the visitors, resulting in the 3-0 final score.
The Women's Soccer Team returns to action on Monday September 18
th at home with a non-conference tilt against Emmanuel College (MA) on the Nichols Soccer Field, kickoff is set for 3:00pm.
