POSTSEASON PREVIEW: No. 2 RWU to Play Host to No. 7 Women’s Lacrosse in CCC Quarterfinals

CCC Bracket

BRISTOL, R.I. – After sliding into the seventh spot in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) postseason, the Nichols women's lacrosse team (10-6, 2-6 CCC) will travel to Bayside Field in Bristol, R.I. for a CCC Quarterfinals showdown with No. 2 Roger Williams (11-6, 7-1 CCC) on Saturday, April 29 at noon. The matchup will be the second of the season between the two sides, with the Hawks prevailing by a final of 20-2 in the April 4 meeting in Dudley.

The Bison are led by sophomore attacker Hadley Houghton, whose 59 goals and 74 points rank first and second in the conference, respectively. Houghton has been a driving force of the Nichols offense for two seasons, first by setting the single-season record for goals in 2022 with 56 before breaking her own barrier during the 16 regular-season games this season.

Second in goals on the team was senior Mackenzie Doran, who tacked on 29 goals on 58 shots on target.

Freshman attacker Emma Patton has made an instant impact since she stepped on The Hill, adding an additional spark on offense with 36 points (27-9-36) through 15 games played. Her eight free position goals to 18 shots ratio ranks eleventh in the CCC.

Sophomore midfielder McKenzie Muir has been massive in the Bison's effort to possess the ball with 56 ground balls (third in CCC) and 61 draw controls (eighth in CCC). Causing the league's seventh-most turnovers was senior Erin Anthony, who finished the regular-season with 25.

Junior goalkeeper Keri Tremblay has started all 16 games between the pipes for the Bison and ranks second in goals against average at 10.34 and third in save percentage at 49.1.

Roger Williams comes into the postseason ranked second in the NCAA's Region II in the latest regional rankings. Mandy Beck leads the Hawks in points (49-32-81) while Caroline Roach started 13 of the 17 games in net.

The winner will move on to face the victor of the No. 3 Western New England and No. 6 Curry at the highest remaining seed.
