DUDLEY, Mass. – Finding themselves down 2-1 following doubles play, the Nichols men's tennis team used four-straight singles victories to complete the comeback and down Endicott by a final score of 5-2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Semifinals on Wednesday afternoon at the Robinson Tennis Courts. The top-seeded Bison move on to the CCC title match for the 17th time in the program's history, and first under the direction of first-year head coach
Ron Gendron.
Santiago Perez and
Caio Dieckmann dominated their way to a 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles to salvage a point as Nichols went to singles trailing 2-1.
Yannick De Vet downed Conrad Kadel at No. 4 singles by a score 6-1, 6-3 to tie the match at 2-all. From there,
Ludwig Schlatzer earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Hudson De Risi at No. 6 to give the Bison their first lead since the opening doubles result.
Frederik Bertrams won 6-0, 7-6 (6-3) at No. 3 to double the Nichols lead before Dieckmann capped off the comeback with a 6-4, 6-4 triumph at No. 5 against Oliver Pope to clinch the match.
With the win, Nichols now sits at 18-3 in the all-time series versus the Gulls.
The Bison will be in search of their thirteenth CCC Championship in program history on Friday, April 28 at 4:00 p.m. when they play host to No. 2 seed Roger Williams.
