DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols women's lacrosse team used 10 different goal scorers to down Wentworth, 20-5, marking its first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory of the season on Tuesday night at Vendetti Field. With the victory, the Bison improved to 9-5 (1-5 CCC) while the Leopards slipped to 0-10 (0-6 CCC) on the season.
The Bison scored six straight in the first quarter before Helen Hamblett's goal for the Leopards made it 6-1 with 7:45 remaining. Nichols went on to score six more goals over the rest of the opening 15 minutes to lead Wentworth 12-1.
Nichols used goals from
Emma Patton,
Sam Ahaesy, and
Mackenzie Doran in the second period to take a 16-2 lead into the second half.
The Bison would outscore the Leopards 4-3 over the remaining 30 minutes of play to run away with their first conference win of the 2023 campaign heading into the final stretch of the season.
Hadley Houghton netted four goals and tacked on an assist in a team-high five-point outing, as the sophomore also secured eight draw controls, caused two turnovers, and a ground ball. Doran, Patton, and Ahaesy each recorded hat tricks in the offensive onslaught.
Nichols outshot the Leopards 31-9 while also coming away with 19 draw controls to Wentworth's 10.
Next up for the Bison is a 1:00 p.m. road test at Gordon on Saturday, April 22 at the Brigham Complex.
