DUDLEY, Mass. – Using goals from 10 different goal scorers, the Nichols men's lacrosse team came away with a 16-6 victory over Wentworth in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Tuesday evening at Vendetti Field. The win in the regular-season home finale marked the first win over the Leopards since the 2017 season (teams did not face off in 2020). The Bison now sit at 9-6 (3-3 CCC) while the Leopards dropped to 5-9 (2-4 CCC).
 
Hunter Ferreira broke the scoring open just 1:11 into the matchup, finding the back of the net for the first of his three goals. The Leopards would respond just 49 seconds later with Liam Carroll's unassisted strike. Nichols would go on to score four times over the final 9:55 of the first quarter on goals from 
Kyle Ettenhofer, 
Travis Arnold, 
Daniel Lee, and 
Cian Keohane to hold a 5-1 lead.
 
Nichols would keep its foot on the gas to start the second period, as the Bison struck four times to open the game up at 9-1. With 3:44 to play, Carroll would score his second of the night to cut the Leopards' deficit to seven. Ferreira completed his hat trick with 3:18 remaining in the half to put the Bison up 10-2 heading into the break.
 
Ryan Warner joined the scoring efforts in the early moments of the second half on an unassisted goal just 2:17 into the half to make it 11-2. Carroll soon thereafter took advantage of a man-up opportunity to complete his hat trick and keep the Leopards within eight. Drew Bouley followed that up to make it 11-4 before Nichols' 
CJ Cadigan and 
Jack Ellis each scored with under two minutes to play in the quarter to make it 13-4 heading into the final period of play.
 
Ellis, Lee, and Cadigan would all score for the Bison as Wentworth tacked on two more in the fourth to finish with a 16-6 final score.
 
Ferreira (3-1-4) and 
Colby Gillis (1-3-4) each led the offensive pressure with four points apiece while also scooping three ground balls each.
 
Arnold led the ground ball efforts with seven as the primary faceoff taker, while 
Kyle Ettenhofer recorded five ground balls on the defensive end while causing a turnover.
 
Warner had a well-rounded outing, scoring once, nabbing four ground balls, and causing three turnovers.
 
Brady Morgan started and played in 56:55 of the 60-minute affair, making 15 saves for a .750 save percentage in the triumph.
 
The Bison continue their push for the CCC postseason by concluding the regular-season on the road with a matchup at Gordon (April 22 at 4:00 p.m.) and Western New England (April 26 at 7:00 p.m.)
