Women's Lacrosse Stays Perfect with 19-5 Win Over Dean

DUDLEY, MASS.- The Nichols women's lacrosse team keeps its unbeaten streak alive with a 19-5 victory over Dean in a non-conference matchup on Monday afternoon at Vendetti Field. With the victory, the Bison stay perfect at 6-0 (0-0 CCC), while the Bulldogs fall to 3-4 (3-2 GNAC).

Nichols got out to a quick 4-1 lead in the first quarter, with the help of Hadley Houghton's two goals and an assist. The Bison would continue to keep up the pressure as they would go on to outscore the Bulldogs 8-2 in the second quarter, with five different players finding the back of the net to take a commanding 12-3 lead going into the half.

Nichols did not slow down after the break, as four players netted hat-tricks in the remaining 30 minutes of play. Among those four players was freshman, Caitlin Welch, who recorded her first career hat-trick in the closing minutes of the game. Mackenzie Doran, Sam Ahaesy, and Hadley Houghton also recorded three-goal outputs in the contest.

Keri Tremblay came away with the well-earned win, stopping 14 of the 17 shots faced to earn her sixth victory of the season.

Nichols and Dean tied in draws, with both sides controlling 14 in the contest. McKenzie Muir led the way for the Bison with eight of her own while scooping two ground balls. On the back end, Erin Anthony caused a team-best five turnovers.

The Bison look to stay perfect in their Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener against Salve Regina on Wednesday, March 29, at 4:00 p.m. at Vendetti Field.
