DUDLEY, Mass. – Nichols men's volleyball now sits at 17-5 (4-0 NECC) following a 3-0 sweep of Elms in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Athletic Center. The Blazers fell to 3-15 (2-3 GNAC) in the setback in their second loss to the Bison this season, both coming in straight sets. Nichols was victorious by set scores of 25-18, 25-17, 25-16.
Nichols used 86 total kills at a .337 team hitting percentage, while limiting the visitors to a .015 clip, in the triumph. Leading the way offensively was
Nick Martin, registering nine kills at a .333 pace while dishing out 14 of the team's 41 assists. Five Bison registered six kills in the victory, with
Carlos Mercado,
Tanner Soracco, Dylan Knapp,
Conor McCabe and
Luis Martinez all adding to the offensive output. Mercado handed most of the setting duties with 19 assists, while also registering eight digs. Martin and
Adam Bender each followed up Mercado with five digs apiece. Knapp logged a team-high three service aces while adding a solo block.
The Bison return to action in another out-of-conference tuneup against Wentworth on Wednesday, March 29 with first serve from the Nichols Athletic Center set for 7:00 p.m.
