DUDLEY, Mass. – Behind seven goals and two assists from sophomore attacker
Hadley Houghton, the Nichols women's lacrosse team powered its way to a 23-3 victory over Purchase in non-conference play on a rainy Monday night at Vendetti Field. With the win, the Bison improve to 3-0 (0-0 CCC) while the Panthers dropped what was their season-opening contest.
Along with her nine points, Houghton caused a team-high three turnovers and scooped four ground balls, while controlling 12 of the Bison's 26 draws.
Sam Ahaesy and
Mackenzie Doran each scored five goals.
Elizabeth Luster added two of her own, while four separate players each netted one goal in the victory.
As a team, the Bison caused 11 turnovers and collected 15 ground balls. The hosts also out-shot the Panthers 33-7.
Goalkeepers
Keri Tremblay and
Jessica Volpi each split time in the crease, but it was Tremblay, the starter, who came away with the decision for her third victory of the year, making four saves on six shots.
Nichols is 3-0 for the first time in the program's 23-year history and has outscored its opponents 61-18 over that span.
Next up, the Bison fly south to the Sunshine State to take on Warner on Friday, March 17 at 5:00 p.m.
