DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols men's volleyball team got back on track with wins over Sage and Emerson on Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Athletic Center to advance to 14-5 (2-0 NECC) on the season.
Nichols, who is receiving votes in the latest NVA/AVCA Coaches Poll, came out victorious by set scores of 25-9, 25-16, 25-21 over the Gators in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play before finishing up the day of play with a 25-9, 21-25, 25-11, 25-20 over Emerson in a non-conference clash.
The Bison will return to their home floor on Sunday, March 12 in a 1:00 p.m. NECC showdown with NVU-Johnson.
Nichols 3, Sage 0
Nichols came away with its second win over Sage this season, hitting at a .418 team percentage while limiting the visitors to a .032 clip in the match.
Tanner Soracco led the Bison with 14 kills, hitting at a .632 pace out of the middle. The Oxford, Conn. native added two blocks, two digs, and two aces in the triumph.
Nick Martin (16) and
Dylan Urbanski (14) combined for 30 assists in a day where the duo split the setting duties.
The Bison poured on 12 service aces in the victory, with
Jake Harasyko (5) and
Sachio Kekati (4) leading the charge from the line.
Nichols 3, Emerson 1
The hosts hit at a .307 team hitting percentage with 52 kills in the second victory of the season over the Lions, while the guests were limited to just a .067 performance.
Dylan Urbanski carried a heavy workload at setter, dishing out 43 assists.
Three separate Bison garnered 11 kills, as
Luis Martinez,
Carlos Mercado, and
Dylan Knapp provided 33 combined putaways.
