Women’s Hockey Falls to Endicott in Home Finale

HARRISVILLE, R.I. – The Nichols women's hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to Endicott in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play in the team's final home contest of the season at Levy Rink on Friday night. With the loss, the Bison fall to 5-18-1 (3-14-0 CCC), while the Gulls jumped to 15-7-2 (13-4-0 CCC).

Endicott broke open the scoring with two first-period goals coming from Emmerson Hayes and Samantha Fantasia. The final goal of the game would come off the stick of Quin Healy with 7:24 to play in the second period.

The Bison's special teams units fended off all six Endicott powerplays. Graduate student Rebecca Taylor (6) and junior Kaci Johnson (4) combined for 10 of the 35 Nichols blocked shots.

Both teams saw two goaltenders getting action, as Michaela O'Brien (five saves in 30:48) and Bailey Thieben (10 saves in 29:12) teamed up for the win, and Victoria Bakopanos (55 saves in 55:22) got the start with McKenzie Muir (seven saves in 4:38) finishing out the third period.

In suiting up in tonight's home finale, graduate student Isabella Portt skated in her 103rd career collegiate hockey game, breaking the all-time record for games played in a career, which was previously held by Kerri Nadeau (102 games from 2011-2015).

The Bison will cap off the season tomorrow night at Salve Regina, with puck drop at 8 p.m. at the St. George's School Ice Rink in Middletown, R.I.
