SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (12/1/23) – Western New England scored three goals in the third period to propel themselves past the Nichols College women's hockey team on Friday evening from Olympia Ice Center. The Bison lost 4-1 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play.

McKenzie Muir stopped 37 shots in the loss for Nichols.
The Golden Bear opened the scoring in the first frame, to make it 1-0 and that result held for the first 20 minutes. The Bison pulled themselves even thanks to Wiggett scoring her fifth goal of the season to tie her with the team lead. Currin earned the assist to make it 1-1 through 40 minutes.
In the third period, the Golden Bears scored three goals in a three-minute span to give themselves a cushion and cruise to a 4-1 win in CCC action.
Nichols went 0-2 on the power-play and 4-6 on the penalty-kill in the effort for the Bison. Nichols will return home and wrap up the weekend with a 4:40 p.m. match up with Western New England on Saturday, December 2, from Levy Rink.
