HARRISVILLE, R.I. (12/2/23) – The Nichols College women's hockey team was edged out 1-0 at the hands of the Golden Bears of Western New England on Saturday afternoon from Levy Rink in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play.

McKenzie Muir stopped 30 of 31 shots in the net for the Bison, while senior
Grace Wiggett won 16 draws from the dot in the loss.
Neither team scored in the opening 20 minutes in a fast-paced affair early on. Western New England edged the Bison ins shots 9-8 in the first frame.
The Golden Bears scored the game's lone goal at the 16:16 mark of the second period on a shot from the point that snuck through Muir throw a screen. The Bison had three power-play opportunities n the second to pull even and were unable to cash in. Nichols outshot WNE 15-10 in the second and 23-19 for the game totals through 40 minutes but trailed 1-0.
Both teams continued their fast-paced play into the third period but neither team was able to score another goal and the Golden Bears held on for a 1-0 win over the Bison. Nichols went 0-5 on the power-play but was a perfect 2-2 on the penalty kill.
Nichols will return to action next Friday, December 8, when they take on Anna Maria from Levy Rink. Puck drop set for 3:40 p.m.
