East Boston, Mass. (11/11/23) – The Nichols College women's hockey team fell on the road to the Rams of Suffolk University in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Saturday. The Rams shutout the Bison by a score of 5-0.
The home side Rams saw goals from five different players in the game, where they also outshot the Bison 41-27.
For the Bison freshman
Ema Jaskova and senior
Grace Wiggett led the way with 6 shots each. Freshmen
Cela MacDougall and
Rhea Bullens also each added 3 shots.
The Bison recorded 27 blocked shots on the day, with Bullens coming up big with 8 blocked shots.
In goal, it was junior
McKenzie Muir making her sixth consecutive start of the season and making 36 saves in the outing. Her biggest challenge came in making 21 saves in the second period alone.
In the second period, the Bison face nine minutes of penalty kill actions. Holding the Rams to just one powerplay goal on the day.
Nichols (3-3-0, 1-3-0 CCC) loses their third straight game while Suffolk (2-4-0, 2-2-0 CCC) picks up their second consecutive win and move into .500 action in the young CCC season.
Nichols is set to take a break from conference action next weekend, but will return home to the June Rockwell Levy Rink on Tuesday November 21
st, with puck drop set for 4:40Pm against non-conference opponent MCLA.
