Dudley, Mass. (10/19/23) – The Nichols Women's Soccer Team dropped their final home matchup of the fall 2023 season in their Commonwealth Coast Conference against the visiting Western New England University Golden Bears on Thursday. The Golden Bears took the match by a final score of 1-0.
Nichols now sits at 3-11-2 (0-6-1 CCC) on the year and the Golden Bears are 9-3-2 (6-1 CCC) this season.
The Golden Bears game-winning goal came in the 62
nd minute of the match when Isabella Montalvo took her chance at the goal, but
Adie Hughes was up to that task, sprawling out to make the save. The ball popped out and Gabby Sansone tapped the loose ball in for her 3
rd goal of the season.

Adie Hughes was the star of the game for the Bison. She recorded double digit saves (10) for the second time this season. Her best save of the match came in the 20
th minute when she kicked out fer left leg, and was able to get her toe on the ball to send the WNE shot wide of the goal to keep the game scoreless.

Natalie Gray also had a formidable performance on defense as she had a stonewall performance for the Bison.
Grace Killman and
Falyn Hunt lead the way in shots for the Bison, recording 3 each.
The Bison broke into the Golden Bears end throughout the match but were unable to convert on any of their chances. The Golden Bears were able to seal the 1-0 victory.
The Women's soccer team has wrapped up their 2023 home schedule and will now hit the road with a pair of contests. They are set to square off against the newly minted Division III University of Hartford Hawks in a matchup on Saturday at Alumni Stadium in West Hartford, CT. Kickoff is set for 1 PM. They then will head to Gordon College on Tuesday to finish up the season against the Fighting Scots.
