Four Wins in Three Days for Women's Tennis, Nichols 8 Gordon 1

Wenham, Mass. (10/14/23). – The Nichols Women's Tennis team rounded out their 2023 Commonwealth Coast Conference regular season with a commanding 8-1 win over the Gordon Fighting Scots in Wenham on Saturday. The win marked the Bison's fourth win in three days, as they've topped UMass Boston, Curry, Suffolk and now Gordon on the weekend.
 
The Bison will settle with an 8-2 (5-1 CCC) record for the 2023 regular season, falling only to conference foe Endicott College, and Division 1 Bryant University.
 
The Bison stampeded their way through with Antonia Carrero / Charis Vogler picking up the 8-2 victory at #1 doubles, team captains Kelley Carlin/Jordan Knowles winning 8-1 at #2 doubles and Sophia Leonardi / Johanna Schroeder winning 8-2 in the #3 position. The matches were good for a Bison doubles sweep earning the visitors the doubles point.
 
In singles action the Bison saw 5 of their 6 matchups earning the win. Moving into the #1 position, Johanna Schroeder won 6-1, 6-0. Vogler got the 6-1, 6-2 win at #2, Knowles won 6-2, 6-3 at #4, Camila Margrin came into action for the Bison and won 6-2, 6-4 at #5 and Carlin won 6-1, 6-1 at #6.

Nichols head coach Ron Gendron shared his thoughts following the match: "Today was a great day to be a Bison. We as a team stepped up in doubles and across-the-board competed well in singles."
 
The Bison's next task will lie in the Commonwealth Coast Conference playoffs. The Bison will settle #2 in the conference standings, and now face the #3 seeded Roger Williams Hawks, the Bison took the regular season matchup 7-2. The CCC semifinals is set for Thursday October 19th at 3:30pm. The Bison will serve as hosts on the Robinson Tennis Courts.
