Snow Scores in 2-1 Loss to Roger Williams

Dudley, Mass. (10/11/23) – The Nichols College Women's Soccer dropped their contest to the Roger Williams University Hawks in a Commonwealth Coast Conference matchup at the Nichols College Soccer Field on Wednesday afternoon. Roger Williams took the match by a 2-1 score.

With the loss, Nichols falls to 2-10-1 (0-5-0 CCC) the year, and the Hawks improve to 6-6-3 ( 2-1-1 CCC) this season.

The Bison had most of the possession and momentum in the first half despite being outshoot by the Hawks 14-6 in the first frame. The Bison had many chances and were able to capsize in the 27th minute.

A foul in the box by Hawks goalkeeper Coco Marrelli sent Emily Feisthamel to the spot. The junior was stopped on her penalty shot, but it was her classmate and teammate Alana Snow who was able to pot home the rebound and send the Bison up 1-0.

The Bison continued their momentum and took the one goal lead into halftime. The second half seemed to be controlled by the Hawks. Sarah Newman would score the equalizer for the visitors in the 67th minute. Just over nine minutes late, a penalty in the Bison box sent Sofie Morris to shoot for the Hawks. Morris made no mistake and notched the game winner with less than 28 minutes to play.

Defense proved solid for the Bison throughout the match, with senior Grace Killman and junior Ariana Owen playing a key roles in the Bison's transition game and back line, recording 2 shots on goal each in the match. In net for the Bison, junior Adie Hughes made 7 saves in the loss.

The Women's Soccer Team will look to bounce back and return to action this Saturday October 14th, as they head to Boston to take on The Wentworth Lions. Kick off at Sweeney Field is set for 3:30PM.
