BOSTON, Mass. (10/14/23) – The Nichols College Women's Soccer had a scoreless draw with the Wentworth Institute of Technology Leopards in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup at Sweeny Field on Saturday afternoon.
Nichols now sits at 2-10-2 (0-5-1 CCC) the year, and Wentworth is 2-8-2 (0-5-1 CCC). The draw served as the first conference points this season for both teams.
The match was the first time the Bison have taken points from the Leopards since a win in the 2011 season.
The teams exchanged chances throughout the match, but it was the Leopards who held the 18-10 advantage in shots, with teams each having 5 shots on goal.
Sophomore
Falyn Hunt led the way for the Bison with 4 shots (2 SOG), followed by senior captain
Caroline Shields who had 2 (1 SOG).
In goal for the Bison, it was junior
Adie Hughes who recorded 5 saves for her first 90-minute clean sheet of the season, previously recording 45-minute shutouts on two occasions this season. Her seasonal goals against is now 2.36 and a career mark of 2.30.
Next up for the squad is the 2023 Senior Day game when they return to action this Monday October 16
th as they are set to host Fitchburg State in their last non-conference matchup of the season. The match will be played on Vendetti Field at 7:30pm.
